The Kansas University chapter of Young Americans for Liberty raised awareness on tax day, asking students to tax their GPA scores.

Many students support a progressive tax on wealth, but would not support it being applied to GPA, something they felt they had earned. The KU YAL chapter hoped to highlight this inconsistency, arguing that redistributing wealth is similar to redistributing grades.

Liberty-minded students from Kansas University setup a "Visualize the Debt" display at a conservative event held in a local park on Sunday.

The display is one of the March activism events promoted by the national organization, Young Americans for Liberty. Their website states that it is each individual's responsibility to "bring attention to our government's radical spending spree!"

That is exactly what the students at Kansas University intended to do with their display.

A recent street challenge, conducted by Kansas University YAL member, Anthony Orwick, has displayed the failure of America's education system.

Orwick interviewed randomly selected students and asked them two questions. The first pertained to pop culture and the second was in reference to the Federal Reserve.

Students were able to easily answer questions about the 'Jersey Shore,' movies, and music, but were left clueless when questioned about the Federal Reserve.

Unfortunately, our educational system continues to produce college graduates without any idea as to how our government operates.

One student remarked that he would leave things like that up to the "smart guys." Ironic, considering that by most standards, his enrollment in college would place him in such a category.

Young Americans for Liberty invaded campus as rotting corpses and creepy ghouls to illustrate the death of the power of the US dollar.  They were assisted by a zombie horde of founding fathers, including Death himself who stalked the Graveyard of Fiat Currencies.

The Zimbabwe dollar, Yugoslav Dinar, and the German Mark were represented on tombstones which illustrated the frailty of any nations currency as students passed out information on how government's should ensure sound currency.  Passersby were given "zombie money" that featured images of Ben Bernanke and the 100 year chart of the declining dollar.

Students from Kansas attended a Campaign Bootcamp hosted by Young Americans for Liberty in Iowa.  The group loaded into the KU chapter Presidents 4-door and made the 5 ½ hour trip up to Iowa State University to get a one day crash course in preparation to work on local and national campaigns next year.  They were among dozens who made the trek.

I personally like to think of it as briefing for the intellectual battle being waged on and off campus.  We shortened the event to fierce cry of BOOTCAMP!

Many Jayhawks were surprised to find out that they could write whatever they wanted during a Constitution Day event put on by Young Americans for Liberty.  The group encouraged students to sign their "Free Speech Wall" with whatever came to mind, illustrating individual rights in an active way.  Students were informed of limits imposed by the administration to circumvent rights by requiring permission (or prohibiting) to assemble with free speech zones,  restrictions on literature distribution, and speech codes in dorms.
